We operate at the heart of our local communities and bring together local groups and individuals to promote and develop the
effectiveness of local voluntary action. We provide a wide range of services, information, advice, support and training in
response to the needs expressed by locally based groups.
Our Mission
The Council for Voluntary Services exists to represent and support the voluntary sector; to assist organisations in coming
together to achieve common goals; and to enable local people to make an impact on the decisions-making processes which affect
their community.
The Councils for Voluntary Services work in partnership with statutory and other agencies, providing a
range of services for and with:
health
social work
education
housing
employment
environmental
recreation
and other agencies concerned with the social and economic regeneration
of the area.
Each CVS is unique with a membership drawn from Voluntary and Community groups in their area, and plans
its activity around the needs of the local voluntary community.
